Go Home Robot – Candles and Bombs

Go Home Robot is an apparently “psychedelic rock” band from Virginia, USA. I don’t know whether I’d personally label them as psychedelic rock, but they most certainly do have a wide variety of influences in their music. I’m not even sure how to tag this. Maybe I’ll just go with plain old “rock”.

Anyway, this is the only release they have thus far and is an EP. It’s a real grower; I found it boring at first but found it oddly enchanting after 3 or 4 listens. The music is varied, but it’s not an in-your-face-genre-clash type of variation, but a gentle variation; a variation you probably don’t notice too much until you actually pay it attention. It all fits together well anyway, and it’s worth listening to no matter what your tastes are, since it’s only 22 minutes long.

I Have Clones – Music 2.0

I Have Clones (from what I gather) is one guy doing post-hardcore/electronic music. Definitely not for everything, and something a lot of people will hate automatically for being too “scene”, but it’s good stuff, and it’s interesting stuff too.

Music 2.0 is I Have Clone’s debut EP. It’s pretty damn impressive for one guy, and if you’re into electronic rock you should check it out, especially if you enjoy your fusion genres and/or post-hardcore.

Diablo Swing Orchestra – The Butcher’s Ballroom

I have not posted anything as interesting as this on my blog to date (and it’s not as if I’ve posted few interesting things!). I’ve never heard anything like it, and I recommend you all to listen. It’s bloody incredible.

Diablo Swing Orchestra are a Swedish avant-garde music ensemble…and when I say avant-garde I really mean that. They’re metal…but they’re sort of…swing-metal. It sounds odd, but when you hear it you’ll realise it works so well. It’s fun music and it’s executed so perfectly. I doubt I’ll never come across a band like this. They’re definitely one of a kind. I was blown away instantly by it. The swinginess doesn’t stay constant throughout, but the collaboration or orchestral instruments does, although it’s never “symphonic” metal, so no worries about it becoming Nightwish-sounding!

Lucy’s Fur Coat – How to Survive an Aircrash

One of the few bands with a Wikipedia page (link). Lucy’s Fur Coat were a sort of hard rock/grunge act and were formed in 1992/1993. I say “were” because their lack of success lead to their break up, since they had a proper record deal and were dropped when their first record didn’t get very good reception.

Not getting a good reception doesn’t mean it was bad, however. The record I have posted here is their second (and last) release. From what I gather, it’s better, though you can download the first album if you wish here.

If you’re into hard rock (like Silverchair, Saliva, Nirvana etc) you should enjoy this. Not exactly my favorite genre in the world, but for hard rock, How to Survive an Aircrash is pretty damn interesting. It’s only 30 minutes long too, so you really have no excuse for not checking it out if you think (or even suspect) you could enjoy it. We’ve got fast bits, slow bits, and some pretty nice guitar work. Download now!

Lack of Updates

Sorry about the lack of updates recently. I’ve been ill with swine flu and haven’t been able to get my free music listening done. I’ll get posting again as soon as I can. This blog will never die!
